Club Aikido Singapore
A place to learn, train and enjoy Aikido
About Us
Our Beginnings
In September 2003, a small group of Aikido enthusiasts, led by Sensei Koh Nai Sing, gathered to train in a humble courtyard leased from the Salvation Army. From these modest roots, Club Aikido Singapore was born—a neighborhood dojo built on passion, perseverance, and the shared love of Aikido. Over the years, our club has grown steadily, now nurturing practitioners across multiple dojos in Singapore.
Sensei Koh’s journey in Aikido began in the early 1980s with Aikikai Singapore, where he later served as a committee member in the mid-1990s before beginning to teach in the late 1990s. His dedication extended beyond our club—he helped establish another Aikido group, guiding it until it could stand independently.
Our Philosophy
At Club Aikido Singapore, we believe Aikido is more than a martial art—it’s a path to harmony, self-discovery, and personal growth. Our training emphasizes:
-
Practical self-defense and dynamic physical techniques.
-
Mind-body connection, integrating Aikido’s philosophical principles into every session.
-
A supportive community where respect, generosity, and mutual growth thrive.
We foster a fun, positive, and inclusive environment where trainees of all levels—from beginners to advanced—can explore Aikido as self-defense, fitness, and a transformative practice.
Global Connections, Local Roots
We are honored to be associated with Shihan Andrew Williamson, Chief Instructor of Aikido Shinryukan Canterbury (New Zealand), whose annual visits enriched our dojo with his profound knowledge and expertise. With his ongoing guidance and future collaborations, we look forward to deepening our practice and strengthening this cross-cultural Aikido friendship.
